An interesting drone photo of the Chowan River near Mt. Gould (Bertie side). - sent to the CEEG from a friend (thank you!). What appears to be cyanobacteria is piled up along the shoreline (zoom in to see this closely). Perhaps, this is due to the higher waters that were pushed up the Albemarle Sound into the rivers because of Hurricane Helene? The CEEG is wondering if we are seeing this along the east side of the Chowan River as well? If you see something like this, please report to REPORT A BLOOM NCDEQ website as there are likely more cyanobacteria cells out there in the river.
